CAMEROON PERFORMANCE: CENTRE FOR RESEARCH, THEATRE AND VIDEO (CP: CRTV) is a framework for partnership, mediation, research, teamwork, exchange, and action towards the projection of the Cameroonian cultural industry at the micro and macro levels at an era the world is turning into a global village through our performance forms that will serve to educate the people on culture and cultural action for general wellbeing. Through research a focus to improve upon informal education by doing (live performances and mediated versions) which inspire, develop and guarantee the creative spirit in young budding Cameroonian Performing Artists.
Opening up to and train young talented members interested in technical and or behind the scene management and other art aesthetics through People Theatrical activities and Video productions with community cultural appeals. From the “glocal” perspective, we will encourage and foster national and international partnership, through active participation in arts and cultural festivals, conferences, workshops productions and competitions thus sharing in enabling media and spheres wherein members will have and acquire professional artistic initiatives that will contribute to revolutionize the local audio-visual media sphere. Our arts and performance forms will be guided by research projects of members on People Theatre/Video production in order to sensitise the local/global audience on our local artistic potentials, and arts and cultural activities. Inspire, develop and guarantee the creative spirit in young Cameroonian budding performing Artists focusing on issues such as child labour, girl child education, health, poverty, women emancipation, human rights, governance/democracy, early marriage, power, minority concerns etc.
Through frequent-working sessions enthusiastic and budding talents, will be trained to make People Theatre/Video. This will culminate in regular productions on socio-cultural concerns that treat local and global realities in partnership with national and international organs to promote informal education through performance. CP: CRTV intends to engage in advocacy for the alleviation of barriers on international co-operation in the People Theatre and Video Productions while lobbying for support to fund activities that fall in line with those of CP: CRTV.
Focus too will be on theatre and other performance forms as effective and basic instrument for cultural emancipation, better outreach in the global world and education to seek new grounds to raise awareness in society on the necessity for constant co-operation and partnership in both the public and private institutions towards development. Encourage “glocalisation” through the appropriation localisation and “glocalisation” of the media and the new information and communication technologies.
Occupation - Tell us what you do
TUME FONDZEYUF K. is a Theatre for Development Activist, Facilitator and PhD Researcher under the Volkswagen Foundation Net work “Passages of Culture”. He lectures Part-Time at the University of Yaounde 1 ( Performing Arts and Cinematography (Aesthetics) Section - ASC) and University of Buea ( Performing and Visual Arts Unit - PVA) and assists administration in the Department of Arts and Archaeology of University of Yaounde 1 Cameroon. He is Pr Bole BUTAKE’s PA and Research Assistant. He is current awaiting to take a Full Time Job in one of Cameroon’s state Universities to lecture in the area of Theatre Media an Cultural Perspectioves. His area of Special Interest is Community Performance (Popular Culture) and Video Mutations.
