I teach in two large High Schools. In one the school library is packed all day long with students lined up in the computers. The other also with a large population is dead. I sat and watched only 10 books being checked out by the populace in one day. Both school systems are in CT. Amazing the impact of leadership.

The Sandy Hook massacre took place 30 minutes from my home and we are still dealing with it.
perhaps we are more deeply greaved by the NRA and radical right's obsession with violence and addiction to weapons.
PerLarson, a friend posted this remarkable insight:
Mark Shields noted on PBS later on Jan 18 that twice as many Americans have been killed with firearms since 1968 as have died in combat in all the wars fought by Americans: 1,260,703 vs…

Why have youth working part time in a trade by the age of 14 and 80 % by the time they are 18? How come the last two years of college the student is not working part time in their profession.
How come every town does not have an Adult Learning Center to educate people out of poverty and into business or agriculture? How come students with ICT skills are not interning in…

When we do our workshop for “This is my story…” in Africa we are consistently approached by youth with the statement of “We want to be just like the US.” Our gut reaction is, No you don’t. The…
